Flor y Canto: In Xochitl, In Cuicatl

Poetry Reading and Writing: Fall 2018 | This class is offered every other year.

A Xicana Indígena point of view provides the cultural & philosophical lens through which the genre of poetry is explored. Referencing the original American writings of Mesoamérica, along with an examination of the twentieth century movement of Chicano Indigenous reclamation, this lecture course is designed to encourage student poets to recuperate both personal and ancestral memory, in the effort to uncover home-grown and innovative sites of language-making and social consciousness.

The class featured the engaging list of the following visiting poets and artists.
